Blériot XI Slow Flyer kit, 420 mm wingspan, 1:20, Clark-Y profile, Tony Ray
The Blériot XI was developed in 1909 by the French aviation pioneer Louis Blériot and is considered a groundbreaking monoplane aircraft.
It became famous through the first successful flight across the English Channel on 25 July 1909, which Blériot himself carried out.
Thanks to its lightweight wooden frame construction and an air-cooled engine, the machine had remarkable flight characteristics for its time.
In the following years, it was copied many times and used at air shows and competitions, where it set further records.
Today, some faithfully restored Blériot XIs can still be admired in museums and occasionally even at flight demonstrations.
