  • The Boeing P-26 “Peashooter” was developed in the early 1930s as the first all-metal monoplane fighter for the US Army Air Corps.

It stood out for its compact design, open cockpit and angular wings, which earned it the nickname “Peashooter”.

Despite some advanced design features, the aircraft lacked modern protection systems and quickly became obsolete.

Nevertheless, it was used by the US armed forces in the late 1930s and early 1940s and at times in China and the Philippines.

Today, only a few P-26s remain, and are valued in museums or by collectors as milestones in early fighter aircraft development.
