  • The North American P-51D Mustang was a development of the original P-51 design developed for the US Army Air Forces during World War II.

Among other things, it received a Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and improved armament, which significantly increased its performance.

With its characteristic “bubble” cockpit, it also ensured excellent all-round visibility for the pilot.

Its high speed and long range made it a feared escort fighter for Allied bombers, thereby contributing significantly to the success of the air offensives.

After the war, the P-51D remained in service with many air forces and is still considered one of the most legendary fighter aircraft of all time.
